Escape from Alcatraz: A 47-Year Manhurt by Laura Sallivan

Wow... This story is unbelievable. These three people escaped the prison long time ago. Probably, they are already dead or even if they are still alive, they must be very old. The only reason maybe we should be looking for these men is to hear their side of the stories. It would make a great read.

The picture of penitentiary at Alcatraz is huge and can’t believe people actually built it for punish someone there. Also, I can’t imagine that what people could be so dangerous to be punished to be held in this prison! Obviously, it said the worst of the worst were sent there but still…

conference

According to my conference about my project 3, I needed to work on my thesis. I thought our teacher told us to start with thesis on the draft and don't need to write introduction. So I did that way, but she said I didn't have a thesis. From this experience I clearly understood that I should write an introduction first on my draft, probably it could be more understandable to others.
 After my conference, I wrote my introduction and reworked on my thesis. Now, I have a problem about the number of words because my essay has about 2000 words. I am little stressed about this project but I will figure out somehow.

Tanya Maria Barrientos

It felt funny after I read Tanya Maria Barrientos. Because, in her narration, she said speaking Spanish is translated into being poor. It meant waiting tables and cleaning hotel rooms. I don't like how she said about speaking Spanish. In fact, I heard from americans who can't get a certain jobs because it is required to speak Spanish.
Also she said that she is struggling to learn her native tongue and trying to learn it and sign up spanish classes six times? Shame on her. What's wrong with her parents? How she couldn't pick up Spanish while living with Spanish speakers.  Is it possible? I don't think so.

The questions you have for your reviews

Well... I wish I could ask and talk about my essay in the class with everybody and get some ideas about my paper but we don't have enough time to review everybody's paper like that in the class but I have at least one chance to get someone's idea on my paper before I give my essay to my professor. I kind of hoping get some good ideas from my classmates about my essay. Here is my questions that I want to ask from my classmates about my essay.  

1. How do you describe Katniss as a woman?

My Proposal for Project 3

The Hunger Games

In my analysis, I will discuss how gender, in particular feminism, is depicted in the movie and how typical stereotypes related to women and men are almost irrelevant to the society Panem has. I will use the scene where Rue is killed and the farewell Katniss gives to her in order to support my claim of gender-neutral view of the filmmakers.

At first the audience would think that the scene is following a normal and predictable stereotypes where Katniss is a woman and she is looking after Rue, who is a young girl and does not have many skills to defend herself. It is obvious at this stage of the film that Katniss will continue to look after Rue even though the audience knows there can be only one survivor at the end of the Hunger Games. The fact that the creator wanted Katniss to take care of Rue also is not a coincidence because the audience knows that she has a younger sister who she volunteered for; therefore, meeting Rue and taking her under her wings shows Katniss’s soft side and lets the audience know that Katniss did not turn into a killing machine even though she is well capable of getting rid of Rue.  The author, on one hand, still wants the audience to remember that Katniss is a woman and has motherly characters because her father died and she became the mother to her younger sister because her mother became almost useless around the house

critical approach

I learned about gender criticism at class. After I read my critical pocket models, I decided to focus on women studies. I liked the most about describing women criticism on the critical pocket model is "the feminist concept that refers to an attitude that regards women as property or somehow less than fully human.  Another important concept is infantilization, where a woman is treated or spoken to as if she were a child, suggesting that the person doing this believes that women are not capable of adult. Then, I want to write my critical essay focused on The Hunger Games for women studies. I think the main character of The Hunger Game is an approval of women, who is capable as an adult and could be stronger than men.

Happy Independence Day

Tomorrow is an Independence Day, the fourth of July. I think the most of people are off tomorrow and celebrating the holiday with their family, but me. Actually, I really don't mind to work holidays because I like to be around people and holiday paycheck always makes me happy :)

I read about Independence Day and found out: 

On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with typical festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.
