Mother Tongue by Amy Tan

I loved the story, how it begins that I cannot give you much more than personal opinions on the English language and its variations in this country or others. Tan explains, giving many examples, about her struggles as a Chinese American and how she dealt with her mother and her use of proper English. People have different ways of thinking and different types of intelligence; it is influence how we talk. The language is not math or chemistry.  It doesn’t have exact same answer all the time. I think one of the main points of the story is that words are more than just words, sometimes you have to look beyond them in order to understand the true meaning.
